Logging End User Report UseLogicity Professional has the capability of writing to a log file anytime a that a user runs or executes a report via a Logicity Solution file. There are several reasons that this is an important feature. For companies who need to monitor access to sensitive information, logging report usage can provide you with an audit trail on who is running reports. Logging report usage also helps IT & BI managers know which reports are regularly executed and which are no longer being used. This can be extremely helpful information to have available before a large software upgrade. Reports tend to be the last thing everyone thinks about during an upgrade so having a list of the most commonly used reports can help you target important reports first. Having a list of rarely used reports can help you know which reports can be eliminated or upgraded at a later date. To enable logging, go to the last screen of the Logicity Solution Builder Wizard. Simply check the "Enable Logging" check box, and browse to a destination directory. Logicity will suggest a CSV filename based on the report name. You may change the CSV filename if desired. You can have several Logicity actions all writing to the same log file by simply entering the file name of an existing CSV log file. The logging tracks the date & time report was run, the Crystal Report filename, the user name, and the computer name. Users can right click on either field and insert a variable.
