January / February 2008We are excited that you are reading this, the very first issue of the Logicity newsletter. Our hope is that this newsletter becomes a valuable resource, providing you with new ideas on how to use Logicity to deploy and distribute Crystal Reports in your organization. We plan to share some best practices, tips and tricks, as well as let you know about new features that are available. But, we're also going to keep this simple. If you are like us, you don't have time to read another long, detailed newsletter. Our plan is to provide a bi-monthly newsletter that is simple, direct and can be read in less than 5 minutes. All copies of this newsletter will be posted on the Logicity website for reference.
Using Logicity to Create Report InstancesReport Instances are a simple way to view historical snapshots of a report and are incredibly easy to implement using Logicity. Simply schedule a Logicity Solution that saves your report out as a Crystal Reports file, using whatever runtime variable matches the frequency with which you will be running the solution. This process saves the data with the RPT file so it can be used even if the end user doesn't have database access. Plus Logicity gives user all of the Crystal Reports features like drill-downs, group trees, etc. Over time, this directory will fill up with RPT files that contain saved data for their respective time period. Share this directory out to your users and they can simply navigate to this folder, double-click the RPT file of the instance they want to view, and Logicity desktop will allow them to view the report instance. Logicity v1.5.0012 ReleasedSaberLogic is pleased to announce the availability of Logicity version 1.5.0012. This release fixes an issue when using variables in a Logicity Solution file. When executing an RRD file from within the Logicity Solution builder, the variables were being permanently replaced, even after the execution was complete.
