Hi,

Have a Crystal report that runs fine from the server where Logicity is installed. However, I am unable to run it within the RRD builder when I click "Execute RRD". Is the following correct?

database server - computer where oracle database is housed
database name - SID value used in TNSNAMES.ORA file
user name - self explanatory
password - self explanatory

Thanks, Rich

Rich,

As you can probably tell, that is a bit of a generic error than can mean lots of different things. Off the top of my head, here would be a few suggestions:

- Try leaving the database server and database name fields blank. Especially with Oracle the concept of the server name and the database name are a bit blurred. Also note that Logicity doesn't do a "Set Location" on the report each time that it runs it so you will need to make sure that the TNS name / ODBC connection name that you used to create the report in Crystal is set up the same on this computer.

- We've definitely seen issues where reports created in 8.5 need to be opened and saved in a later version of Crystal before they work with Logicity (which is built for Crystal 2013).

- If your report uses ODBC, make sure that you have the connection set up and that every detail matches how that connection was configured on your Crystal machine.

- If you are on a 64-bit version of Windows make sure that you are entering your ODBC connection in the 32-bit version of the ODBC control panel. Search the forum if you are unfamiliar with that process as we have walked several folks through that.

That is all I can think of at the moment.

Regards,
Adam

Well...

I opened report in Crystal Reports XI and saved it. Made no difference.
Report works fine outside of RRD builder.
Database server and database name exactly the same, including case.
I was already using ODBCadC23.exe to define connection.
According to our Oracle DBA, my server values are correct.

This instalation is on a virtual server contained on a VMWARE ESX server.

An update,

Once I recreated the report from scratch in Crystal XI, the error went away.
